Snowglobes: A Brief History

In the world of collectibles, snowglobes, or snow globes, sometimes called water globes, are true standouts. Usually crafted by hand and made with a transparent glass sphere to showcase an enticing scene inside, this traditional home decor item has origins dating back as far as the early 19th century. Snowglobes were first exhibited at the Paris Universal Expo of 1878, generating a surge of interest and curiosity. By the next year, at least a half dozen companies were creating and selling these snow-swirling wonders. The fascination continues to this day.

Christmas Snowglobes

Snowglobes certainly have a nostalgic association with the holidays. Christmas snowglobes are a central focal point in thousands of homes throughout the festive season. One of the reasons this is probably true is because they are filled with "snow." In an instant, they conjure a heartwarming feeling of winter nostalgia with a mere shake or the flick of a switch. What a sight! And don't forget the sounds. With a musical snow globe, you have a splendid soundtrack to the season too, letting you slip away into a magical holiday moment for as long as you like.

A second reason for the popularity of Christmas snow globes is the familiar holiday friends they showcase inside. We are thrilled to roll out a merry parade of those familiar friends just for the Christmas season. Our snowglobes add the perfect complement to your Christmas tree and other home decor because their shining stars are frosty snowmen, Santa Claus, Rudolph and maybe even your favorite Disney and PEANUTS characters, captured in a winter wonderland that you will always enjoy.

A Perfect Gift

Want to see someone's face light up? The gift of a magical snowglobe will do the trick. Friends, family and loved ones will delight at the flurry surrounding scenes of popular interests, from pro sports and Thomas Kinkade, to HARRY POTTER, STAR WARS and The WIZARD OF OZ.
