The eastern side of the sculpture features three classical figures including Victory holding a palm branch, Peace holding a dove and Valor holding a sword. The western side's inscription reads, "Here Rests in Honored Glory an American Soldier Known but to God". On the other two sides, six inverted wreaths represent mourning and the six major campaigns in WWI.
